Repairs

Repairs that do not show

A good repair is one you have to be told about. We fill, texture and prime each one before the coat goes over it.

  • Thin crack running through a pink painted plaster wall

    Hairline cracks

Stopped moving, filled and coated with a flexible product.

  • Crack running down a beige wall

    Wider cracks

Opened, filled in layers and textured to match. If one keeps growing, we say so first.

  • Gloved hand holding a trowel loaded with grey plaster

    Old patches

A patch that is smooth on a rough wall shows. We re-texture it so the wall reads as one surface.

Wood and plaster

Beams, doors and window trim

The wood that frames a plaster wall takes more sun than the wall does. We sand or strip what is failing, stain or paint it to suit the wall, and wrap or mask beam ends so nothing runs onto the plaster. If a beam end is soft, we point it out and leave that repair to a carpenter.

  • Stain or paint, your choice

  • Door and window trim cut in by hand

  • Beam ends wrapped while the walls are coated

Weathered grey wood boards with open grain

About repairs

Will a crack come back through new paint?

A hairline crack that has stopped moving is filled and coated, and a flexible coating helps. A crack that keeps growing is a wall question, not a paint one, and we tell you to have it looked at before we paint.

What does the estimate not include?

Repairs we can only find once a wall is washed, extra colors, and structural work. Anything added is agreed with you in writing before we do it.

How do you protect plants, tile and beam ends?

Drop cloths on the ground, plastic and tape on windows, tile and doors, and wraps on beam ends and plants. Whatever we cover comes off before we leave each day.

Show us the crack.

A close photo and one from across the yard tell us most of what we need.
